Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) is a neo-noir thriller film directed by Drew Goddard. The movie follows seven strangers who all meet at a mysterious hotel on the California-Nevada border. The movie is filled with suspense, mystery, and plenty of sexual moments.
The movie starts off with a bang as we meet the first two characters, Emily Summerspring (Dakota Johnson) and Miles Miller (Lewis Pullman). Emily is a young woman who is looking for her missing sister, while Miles is a priest with a mysterious past. The two have an intense sexual chemistry that is palpable throughout the movie.
The next two characters we meet are Darlene Sweet (Cynthia Erivo) and Laramie Seymour Sullivan (Jon Hamm). Darlene is a singer who is trying to make it big, while Laramie is a vacuum cleaner salesman with a shady past. The two have a passionate encounter in the hotel room, which leads to a steamy make-out session.
The last three characters we meet are Billy Lee (Chris Hemsworth), Father Daniel Flynn (Jeff Bridges), and Rose Summerspring (Cailee Spaeny). Billy is a cult leader with a dark past, while Father Flynn is a priest who is trying to save Billy’s soul. Rose is Emily’s missing sister, who is being held captive by Billy. The three have a tense encounter in the hotel room, which leads to a passionate kiss between Rose and Billy.
